SIOUX CITY -- Louise Gladys (Michel) Wynn, 90, of Sioux City left her human temple on Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, at the Casa de Paz Care Facility.

Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present beginning at 6 p.m., and a prayer service will begin at 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at meyerbroschapels.com.

Louise, also known as Weezy, Winy, or Gladys (nicknames she always greeted with a smile), was born into his world on Feb. 27, 1920, in Tracy, Minn., to Charles and Nancy (Minolia) Michel. She was raised in Walnut Grove, Minn., attended a one-room country school in Tracy, graduating in 1938.

Weezy married Clifford F. Wynn in 1938, at Lincoln, Neb. They moved from the farm to Sioux Falls, where Clifford worked until he was the first man drafted in South Dakota to the U.S. Navy. When her husband's ship came to port, Weezy traveled by train to California (stating it was a long and beautiful trip). In May of 1940, the couple's first of three sons was born, Vernon James Wynn. Their second son was born in September of 1942, Scharrel Michel Wynn, and in September of 1946, Charles Franklin "Dubby" Wynn completed the family.

The family moved to Sioux City in 1949, and Weezy worked at The Battery as a spell worker (a relief worker able to replace multiple factory positions), she worked at Katz Drug Store as a waitress, and later as a retouch artist at Gannley Studios. Weezy began her career as a nurse's aide at St. Luke's Hospital beginning in 1962. She was the first aide to assist in the emergency room at St. Luke's and retired only a few years ago.

Louise was a wife, mother, friend and a pal. She loved gardening, fishing and camping which included picnicking, crocheting and knitting. She made handmade dolls and sold them to coworkers and church members. Louise loved children and accepted unfortunate kids into her home so they could have a place to sleep, eat, bathe and learn. She had them call her "mom" and always wanted to know they were safe and where they were. She was asked recently by her grandchildren if she could, what would she change in her life. Weezy's response was simple, "There is nothing in my life I would change."

Louise is survived by her sons, Vernon James Wynn and his wife, Carole of Salix, Iowa, and Charles Franklin "Dubby" Wynn of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford in 1999; son, Scharrel Michel Wynn; grandson, Michel Wynn; brother, George Doane; and one great-grandson.

Pallbearers for the service will be Jody Wynn, Jacob Wynn, Amanda Wynn, Kelly Wynn, Derick Hardnett and Jeremiah Hardnett.

All the Wynn family is looking for Louise's granddaughter, Kimberly Kay, born in Hemingford, Neb.
