SIOUX CITY -- Glen E. Ballantyne Sr., 77, of Chula Vista, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Aug. 6, 2010. at his home.

He was born Nov. 4, 1932, the fourth son of Kenneth and Lydia Ballantyne. He married the love of his life, Sally Ann Cereva Jones on Oct. 7, 1958 in Ralston, Neb. They were blessed with four children, Glen Jr., Linda, Lezly, and Michael.

Glen operated a service station on Seventh and Court. Later, he served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He was the mechanic at the Skelly Keen Korner on Highway 75. In 1972, he moved with his family to Chula Vista, Calif., and operated an ARCO service station until 1982. He completed his working career with Old Dominion Security at the United States-Mexican border, San Ysidro port of entry.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; children, Glen Jr., Lezly and Michael; grandchildren, Amber, Kaira, Patricia and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Desirae and Mykalah; one brother, Richard of Sioux City; two sisters, Helen Ballantyne Foreman of Richland, Wash., and Judy Ballantyne Terry of Chula Vista.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lydia Ballantyne; three brothers, Merle, Donald, and Kenneth Jr.; and his daughter, Linda.

Glen will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his generosity, kindness and jubilant, contagious laugh.
