SIOUX CITY -- Arthur J. Delperdang, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010, in Sioux City.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Nativity Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Arthur was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Plymouth County, Iowa, to Arthur and Ida (Wilberding) Delperdang. He graduated from Cherokee (Iowa) High School and attended the National Business Training College. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He worked in sales for Crescent Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1992.

Arthur was married to Marjorie Lane in September 1949. To this union four children were born, Douglas, John "Jack," Russell and Cindy. Marjorie preceded him in death in July 1969. He later married Jo Ann Sully in October 1979.

He belonged to the Siouxland Rental Association, American Legion, American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association. He loved horses and was still raising them at the time of his death. He was also a softball and baseball coach for many years and was a diehard Cubs fan.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Jo Ann; his children; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; Jo Ann's children; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Marjorie; three sisters; and a brother.
