SIOUX CITY -- Thomas E. Raymond, 79, of Castle Rock, Colo., formerly of Sioux City, died peacefully at his home early Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, from complications of lung cancer.

A graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Foothills Gardens of Memory. A celebration of life service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel in Longmont, Colo. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 32. Friends may share thoughts, memories and condolences with the family at www.carroll-lewellen.com.

Born on June 7, 1931, in Sioux City, he was the son of Benjamin G. and Ruth L. Warnholtz Raymond. He was raised in Sioux City.

He married Janet Jamieson on July 23, 1955, in Sioux City and his jobs moved him from Canada to Colorado. Tom worked for Thompson Pipe and Steel Co. in Denver, Colo., where he retired after 25 years of being a project engineer.

He loved and enjoyed his entire family from coast to coast. His interests include the outdoors, golfing, fishing, hiking and camping as well as reading, woodworking and traveling. He was always lending a helping hand to his family, friends and neighbors.

Survivors include his children, Lisa LaJoie and her children, Martha and Cody of Prague, Okla., Mike Raymond and his daughter, Mary of Castle Rock, Colo., Jim Raymond and his son, Nicolas of Longmont, Colo., Cindy and husband, Mike Schrag and their sons, Timothy and Zachary of Dolores, Colo., and Jennifer and husband, Jonathan Morrill and their children, Nate and Jael of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his brother, Richard J. Raymond and his wife, Barb of Worthington, Minn.; his brothe,r John W. Raymond and his wife, Vanita of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janet.

In lieu of flowers friends may donate to Denver Hospice in Tom's memory c/o Carroll-Lewellen Funeral and Cremation Services.
