SIOUX CITY -- Darlene L. Bursell, 84, of Sioux City died Monday, Oct. 4, 2010, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Pritchett officiating. Burial will be in Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion, S.D. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Darlene was born Jan. 2, 1926, in Danbury, Iowa, to Charles Asa and Agnes Mary (Leech) DeForest. She attended Sioux City Central High School.

Darlene married Freeman Bursell on Sept. 6, 1952, in Elk Point, S.D. They lived in South Sioux City. Freeman passed away July 17, 1974, in Omaha.

She attended Evangelical Church of North America in South Sioux City. She loved to fish, go camping, arts and crafts, and garden. She was devoted to her family, was always happy and lived life to the fullest.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Bursell and his wife, Michelle of Whiting, Iowa, and Ed Bursell of Sioux City; three daughters and their husbands, Mary and Norman Haugen of Sioux City, Carolyn and Emil Nelson of Norfolk, Neb., and Ardis and Hank Bosteder of Sioux City; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Armond and Kenneth; and a daughter, Patricia "Pat".

Pallbearers will be Corey Bursell, Daniel and Shawn Haugen, Charles, Brian and James Benjamin, Tom Boschen and Calvin Ring.
