MOVILLE, Iowa -- Monty Gene Harmes, 57, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Moville, passed away Sept. 15, 2010.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, in Arlington Township Cemetery in Moville, with the Rev. Mark J. Stoll officiating. Following the service, there will be a luncheon and a time of fellowship with family and friends at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church hall in Moville.

Monty was born Nov. 16, 1952, in Sioux City, the son of Gene and Joy (Alloway) Harmes. He graduated in 1971 from Woodbury Central High School in Moville. In 1975, he graduated from Wayne State College with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. In 1997, at the University of Phoenix, he received his master of business in administration.

Monty married Lynette Wiltgen on June 2, 1984. During their years of marriage, they were blessed with two children, Nicole and Austin.

Monty worked at Norwest in Sioux City for eight years as an operations manager officer. After moving to Phoenix, he worked for five years at Bank Line, which serviced banks. He then worked for 20 years at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Ariz. as a data processing lab technician. During this time, he also taught some computer classes.

He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Phoenix.

Monty will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Nicole Glasgow and her husband, T.R. of Phoenix; his son, Austin of Phoenix; his mom, Joy Harmes of Lawton, Iowa; his siblings, JoEllen Nugent and her husband, Phil of Sioux City, Danny Harmes and his wife, Annette of Moville, and Kirk Harmes and his wife, Tami of Tempe, Ariz.; his uncle and aunt, Gaylin and Greta Harmes of Moville; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Gene Harmes; and his grandparents, Elmer and Ann Alloway and Richard and Amanda Harmes.
