SIOUX CITY -- Elsbeth M. Arndt, 84, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service. Elsbeth was born in Labes, Germany, on Dec. 13, 1925, the daughter of Richard and Marie (Blum) Buske. She and her family came to the United States when she was 26 years of age. Elsbeth became a citizen of the USA on Oct. 6, 1959. The family made their home in Sioux City, where she continued to live her entire life.

She was a caring mother and homemaker to her two children. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, cooking, and spending as much time as she could with her family and friends. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, which was her second home, making sure that she was in attendance while her health permitted her to do so.

Elsbeth will be missed by her family which includes her son, Ralph Arndt and his wife, Colleen of Sioux City; her daughter, Linda Arndt of Sioux City; her brother, Werner Buske and his wife, Juanita of Omaha; her two loving grandchildren, Dr. Richard Andt of Omaha, and Michael L. Arndt of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers.

The family requests that memorials in her name be made to the caring professionals of Hospice of Siouxland, who cared for her during her final days.
