SIOUX CITY -- Harry C. Griffin, 73, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City and Dakota City, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha following a terminal illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Harry was born May 13, 1937, in Martin County, N.C., the son of Matthew and Odie A. (Robinson) Griffin.

He married Goldie Griffin. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2006. He married Shelia Joyce Fletcher on May 30, 2007, in Dakota City.

He was an extremely hard worker. He worked as a senior maintenance highway worker for the Nebraska Department of roads and as a supervisor for Tyson, formerly known as IBP.

He was an extremely loyal friend and had a laugh that you could never forget. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Griffin of Omaha; three sons, Harry Jermaine Griffin of Dakota City, Charles Edward Griffin of Sioux Falls, S.D., and K-Anthony Lee Fletcher of Sioux City; six grandchildren; and four sisters, Christobel Carter, Janet Gorham, Cora and her husband, James McElveen and Evelyn Griffin, all of Baltimore, Md.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Goldie; and two brothers, Leslie Griffin and Bobby Griffin.
