SALIX, Iowa -- Helen B. Beeson, 81, of Sioux City, formerly of Salix, passed away Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at a Sioux City care facility.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with the Rev. Patrick O'Kane officiating. Interment will be in Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Waterbury Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Helen was born in Rosalie, Neb., on March 21, 1929, the daughter of Hjalmar and Hazel (Martin) Ekberg. She moved with her family to Sloan at a young age and graduated from Sloan High School with the class of 1947.

She was united in marriage with Raymond Beeson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix in 1947. Raymond preceded her in death on April 12, 2008 in Sioux City. She worked as a homemaker for many years. She then worked at Zenith in Sioux City, continuing to work there until the plant closed.

Helen loved to dance, attending the Eagles club, reading, doing crossword puzzles and refinishing furniture.

She will be missed by her family which includes her two sons, Dan (Kathy) Beeson of Omaha, and Larry Beeson of McCook Lake, S.D.; her three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Wilma Stockee of Lincoln, Ill., and Wanda Schilling of Minneapolis.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
