SIOUX CITY -- John Andrew Dammann, 43, of Johnson City, Tenn., formerly of Sioux City, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 10, 2010. He was in the comfort of his parents' home in Sioux City.

John was born in Sioux City, Iowa, on Feb. 8, 1967, the son of Dale R. and Bonnie J. (Chartier) Dammann. He graduated from East High School in 1985 and attended Wayne State University for one year. While growing up in Sioux City he attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He continued to follow and serve Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

A true Celebration of his life service will be held at a later date at Cornerstone Church of Johnson City, Tenn. John and his family were members and actively involved at Cornerstone for 14 years.

John worked for K-G Men's Store in Sioux City, Omaha, and Des Moines. He was a patriot and served in the United States Army Reserves for 12 years. Most recently, John worked as a Field Service Manager for Up Dish Satellite LLC in Tennessee.

John was united in marriage with Kelly DeVaughn on Sept. 4, 1992, in Blue Ridge, Ga. John and his family would spend time with friends, camping and having fun wherever they were. The ones around him were important, and they knew it. John loved working with his wife building teams, impacting lives, living with character, teaching life principles and a standard that will outlive the both of them.

The time John Dammann spent on Earth will be treasured by his wife Kelly; his four children, Levi Derby of Sioux City, Matthew Dammann, Ruth Dammann and Jacob Dammann of Johnson City. He is also survived by his parents, Dale and Bonnie Dammann of Sioux City; his four brothers, Douglas and his wife, Laurie of Wyoming, Iowa, David of Renton, Wash., Jerry and his wife, Cherie of Seattle, Wash., and Mark and his wife, Sonja of Warren, Mich.; along with many other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in his honor for his children's higher education fund. Waterbury Funeral Service has been entrusted with local arrangements.
