SIOUX CITY -- Clarice E. Ryden, 86, of Sioux City passed away June 10, 2010, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Pastor David Cox of St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Clarice was born March 3, 1924, in Sioux City, to Arthur and Norma (Churchill) Johnson. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools.

She married Herbert O. Ryden on April 24, 1940, in Coleridge, Neb. He passed away on Jan. 30, 1985, in Sioux City. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City, being a homemaker raising her four children.

Clarice was of the Lutheran faith, always being involved in her church. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran and Augustana Lutheran Church, both here in Sioux City. She was a former member of the Girls of '68. Clarice enjoyed cooking, sewing, taking walks, traveling and going to beaches.

Survivors include her four children, Ronald and Sharron Ryden of Dakota City, Ken and Phyllis Ryden of Springhill, Fla., Al and Marian Ryden of Waterloo, Iowa, and Barbara and Chuck Lampear of South Sioux City; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Wyman of Taft, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sisters.
