Debra Kay Nemitz Sexton was born Jan. 11, 1959, to Kenneth and Arlene Nemitz, at the Crawford County Hospital in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized on Feb. 8, 1959 and confirmed on April 15, 1973, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Charter Oak, Iowa. She graduated from Charter Oak High School with the class of 1977 and continued her education by attending Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City majoring in business.

She married Mick Sexton of Danbury on Aug. 20, 1983, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Charter Oak. The couple made their home, raised their daughter, and farmed in rural Danbury. Deb worked at the Maple Motel in Mapleton, the First State Bank in Mapleton, and was currently a long term employee of the Hoffman Insurance Agency in Mapleton.

Deb was confirmed in the Catholic faith in December 2010 and became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury. She was a dedicated mother and supporter of her daughter Brandi, especially throughout her sporting activities in school, primarily her golfing. She enjoyed visits from her daughter and also taking trips to visit her. She found great pleasure shopping with her mother and sisters as well as escorting her mother to events in the lives of her nieces and nephews. She loved attending family gatherings and was an avid reader of books. Deb was often rightfully described as a kind, thoughtful, and loving person by anyone that knew her.
