SIOUX CITY -- Jacqueline Jean Bue, 85, of Sioux City died Dec. 27, 2010, at her residence with her family by her side.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Chapel, Christ-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tom LoVan of Morningside Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Jacki was born Oct. 8, 1925, in Sioux City, to Victor E. Sr. and Grace (Jensen) Menefee. She grew up in Sioux City, where she attended school and graduated from East High School in 1944.

On May 25, 1947, she married Vernon A. Bue. The couple made their home in Sioux City. Vernon passed away in 1966. For 40 some years, Jacki worked for the Sioux City Stockyards. She then held several other jobs until her retirement in 2006.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and belonged to the Sioux City Stockettes. She was a generous and loving person, who cared about everyone she met. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and socializing. Her greatest joy was being with family and friends.

Survivors include her children, Curt and Vicky Bue of Sioux City, and Deborah and Bill Lund of Bancroft, Neb.; four granddaughters, Tiffany Engle of Denver, Colo., Danielle Lund of Lincoln, Neb., Lindsey and Brad Burhoop of Bancroft, and Shannon and Jeff Williams of Sioux City; a grandson, B.J. Lund of Bancroft; two great-grandsons, Scott Williams of Sioux City and Bowdie Burhoop of Bancroft; a brother, Victor E. Jr. and his wife, NoNeva Menefee of Little Rock, Ark.; and a nephew, Roger and Tina Menefee of Hot Springs, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a granddaughter, Alana Bue of Sioux City; and a niece, Victoria Wilson of Hot Springs, Ark.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandsons.

The family would like to thank everyone involved in the care of their mother and grandmother. Special thanks to a very dear friend, Shirley Pirog, and the Well-Home Care staff and their extra effort.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
