SIOUX CITY -- Janice O. Carson-Olson, 59, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at her residence.

Private graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family at www.waterburyfuneralservice.com.

Janice was born Mar. 22, 1951, in Steele, Mo., the daughter of John Edgar and Helen (Bloodworth) Majors. She grew up in Colorado Springs, Colo., before relocating to Sioux City, where she completed her associate's degree in administrative office management at Western Iowa Tech Community College.

Jan was known to light up a room when she walked in. She loved life and had a great sense of humor. Jan strived to make others happy and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Robert of Sioux City; their children, Chester (Amanda) Olson, Claire (Adam) Wilson, and Jeffrey Olson, all of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Joseph Wilson, Alex Olson, Nate Wilson, Katrina Olson and Payton Olson, all of Sioux City; two sisters, Vivian (David) Kelty and Judy Knight, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Kenneth (Myrah) Majors and Randy Majors, both of Colorado Springs; her mother-in-law, Lavon Bottjen of Sioux City; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

Prior to her death, Jan suffered a fall in early 2010 resulting in months of rehabilitation at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. A special thank you goes out to the staff for their many efforts during Jan's recovery.
