Bronson, Iowa—J. Stanley Conaway, 78, of Sioux City, formerly of Bronson, died Thursday at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Arlington Cemetery in Moville with the Rev. Roger Semmier officiating. McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until funeral time at the funeral home.
Mr. Conaway was born March 20, 1910, the son of Seldon and Rose Ann (McDermott) Conaway. He attended school at Moville and Correctionville. He played Class AAA baseball in the Western Association for a Springfield, Mo. Team which was a farm team of the St. Louis Cardinals. He married Inez Vinderslev, July 4, 1954 in Kingsley. He had farmed and also worked as a carpenter until retiring in 1972.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Joelene and Valeria of Sioux City; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jay and Diane of Jefferson, S.D. and Clayton and Jeanna of Highland, New Jersey; two sisters, Frances Lindquist of Sioux City and Ruth Seaholm of Denver, Colo. and two grandchildren, Jason and Clarice.
