Funeral Services Held Wed. for Mrs. E.E. McCune
Funeral services for Mrs. Ernest McCune, 86, Moville, were held Wednesday, July 9, 1975 at 2:00 p.m. in the Moville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dr. John Dowd officiated. Burial was in the Westfork Township Cemetery in Climbing Hill under direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.
Vocalists Mrs. Ben Pratt and Mr. Lowell Pratt sang “Take Up Thy Cross” and “My Father Watches Over Me.” They were accompanied by Mrs. Lawrence Roepke organist.
Casketbearers were Messrs. Richard Babcock, Ben Pratt, Howard M. Logan, Robert Logan, Robert Speke and Clarence Voas.
Mrs. McCune, the former Edith May Wilson, daughter of James Wilson and Alice Donnell Wilson was born May 1, 1889, near Climbing Hill. She attended Climbing Hill School and Morningside College in Sioux City.
She was married to Mr. McCune in Sioux City February 22, 1911. The couple farmed near Luton and Climbing Hill for 10 years before moving to the Moville area, where they farmed for 32 years.
They moved to Moville in 1953. She was a member of the Moville United Methodist Church and Eldridge Circle of the church.
Mrs. McCune died Monday morning, July 7, 1975, at a Kingsley nursing home. She had been in ill health for the past 3 ½ years. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Fred, Clyde, John and Clarence.
Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Duane (Freda) Voas of Iowa Falls; a son, E. Wayne of Moville; a sister, Mrs. Elmer (Erma) Polk of Elkhart, Ind; a brother, Loyd of Phoenix, Ariz; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
