SMITHLAND, Iowa -- Itha L. Hamann, 91, of Smithland died at her residence.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff. Burial will be at a later date in Smithland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Itha was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Smithland, the daughter of Richard and Nora (Carpenter) Harris. She attended Smithland schools.

She was united in marriage to Everett Sexton on March 25, 1937. Everett preceded her in death on May 10, 1967. She later married Lee Hamann, who also preceded her in death. Itha worked as a cook for many different restaurants in the area.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to casinos.

She will be missed by her family, which includes her son, Larry Sexton of Sioux City; three brothers, Neil (Grace) Harris and Gene (Jo Ann) Harris, both of Sioux City and Dick (Irene) Harris of Tea, S.D.; two sisters, Letha Newman and Greta Kroll, both of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Julie Johannsen and Melonie Sexton; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister; and a brother.
