SIOUX CITY -- Robert H. Arthur, 84, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, passed away July 15, 2010.

Private family inurnment services will be held at a later date in Llano Cemetery, Amarillo. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home in Amarillo.

Robert was born on Aug. 5, 1925, in Sioux City, to R.G. and Nelle Arthur. He was raised in Sioux City and was a graduate of Central High School, Sioux City, in 1943.

Robert married Janice Johnson on Aug. 28, 1949, in Sioux Falls, S.D. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota in 1950. Robert served his country in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II. He was a sales representative most of his life. He moved to Amarillo in 1962.

He was a former member of The Sons of the American Revolution, Albuquerque Chapter and a member of Beta Theta Pi Social Fraternity. Robert was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Arthur of the home; two sons, Harris W. Arthur and wife Carolyn of Katy, Texas, and Robert D. Arthur and wife Cathy of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Sarah Bohner and husband, Neil of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Julie Domansky and husband Mark of Lubbock, Kelton Arthur and wife Johnna of Lubbock, Candice Betz and husband Rich of Denver, Colo., and Matthew Arthur of Kathy; and a great-granddaughter, Emma Betz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Nancy Russell and Peggy Thygesen.
