SIOUX CITY -- Harriet Majors, 79, of Houston, Texas, formerly of Sioux City, passed from this life on Monday, July 12, 2010.

Services celebrating Harriet's life will be 11 a.m. Friday at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church in Houston, with the Rev. Simmons and the Rev. McPhail officiating. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Logan Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

She was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Sioux City, the only child born of Frank C. and Harriet J. Voss. She graduated from Central High School, "the Castle", and the University of Colorado and became an elementary school teacher.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a true friend to many. Harriet is leaving us with many wonderful memories to cherish forever. She was a devoted member of PEO and Chapter EL.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles E. Majors; son, Randy Majors and wife, Debbie of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Jay Majors Bartley and husband, Steve Bartley of Aledo, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Draegen Majors, Karsten Majors, Hayden Bartley and Preston Bartley; as well as a host of other family members and friends.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, Houston, Texas.
