SIOUX CITY -- Betty Jean Sherr, 80, formerly of Sioux City passed peacefully on July 10, 2010 at her home in McCook Lake, S.D.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at the Independent Farane Cemetery in Sioux City, with A. Frank Baron and Michelle Ivener officiating. A celebration of Betty's life will be announced after the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff.

Betty was born on Jan. 6, 1930, in Sioux City, the daughter of Ben and Nina (Weinstein) Ivener. She attended and graduated from Sioux City Community Schools and attended college for two years. Betty was a lifelong resident of Sioux City.

Betty enjoyed her time serving as an associate with Century 21 Realty in Sioux City since 1987. She welcomed many new families to the community and a special thanks to her coworkers for being such devoted friends.

In her spare time she enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and cooking. Her legacy of Betty Crocker will be passed down to future generations.

She is survived by daughters, Helena Mang and Annette Shook; her granddaughters, Jennifer Schollenberger and Josalynn Shook; her grandsons, Dustin Mang and Michael Shook; her great-grandsons, Wyatt Schollenberger, and Dylan Mang; and her ex-husband Harry Sherr. Betty will be missed by many and will be remembered for her love of life, laughter, smile, and, generous loving heart.

To our mother from her entire family, you will forever live in our hearts, mind, body and soul.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to all those who assisted Betty during her illness.
