SIOUX CITY -- Keri Lee Hohl, 23, of Sioux City died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha after a lifetime battle with cystinosis.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tony Nester officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com.

Keri was born on Nov. 17, 1986, in Sioux City, the daughter of Lonnie and Joan (Mayer) Hohl. She lived her entire life in Sioux City. She graduated from East High School in 2006, and had been attending Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in the culinary arts program.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Keri loved basketball, games of all sorts and had a passion for cooking.

She is survived by her parents, Lonnie and Joan; a sister, Kasey; paternal grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Hohl of Atlantic, Iowa; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and her cystinosis family.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Mayer; and her uncle, Darwin.

The family suggests memorials to the Cystinosis Foundation.
