SIOUX CITY -- Lucille Pearl "Lucy" Spurlock, 98, of Sioux City died Friday, July 2, 2010, at Akron Care Center in Akron, Iowa.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Tess Panamarow of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Lucille "Lucy" was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Sioux City to Carl Louis and Florence (Young) Mummert. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.

She married John Spurlock on July 12, 1932, in Elk Point, S.D. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1976, in Sioux City. Lucy was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She was employed at S.S. Kresge, Younkers and as a receptionist for Dr. McCoy.

She was a member of Chi Omega Mu Sorority and Hesperian, both of Central High School, and the Post Office Auxiliary. In her free time, she loved to paint.

Survivors include a son, John Spurlock of Akron; a daughter, Judy Svendsen and her husband, Ray of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Gabriele Shay, Terry Svendsen and Shelly Ouellette; and five great-grandchildren, Blake Ouellette, Nick Svendsen, Austin Svendsen, Shelbie Ouellette and Mikki Schwartz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Lois Beers.
