Climbing Hill, Iowa—William H. Surber, 77, of Climbing Hill, died Monday, January 28, 1991, at a Sioux City Hospital after a short illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sioux City, with the Rev. Eugene Smith officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery in Climbing Hill, with a flag presentation by Wink-Sparks American Legion Post 303 of Moville. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with family present after 7 p.m. at McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Mr. Surber was born October 12, 1913, at Riverside, Wash. He married Anna Mae Sorenson October 16, 1941 at Omaha. He served in the Army during World War II. He lived in Moorhead for a number of years, and had lived in the Lawton/Climbing Hill area since 1960. He worked for the Moorhead Stock Farms during the 1950s, and was a farmhand for many years in the Lawton area. He worked for the Kisting Service Station in Lawton for 13 years, retiring in 1973.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darla and Clifford Card of Climbing Hill and Marilyn and Randy Haafke of Bronson; a son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Betsy Surber of Sioux City; a stepsister, Evelyn Moore of Coravallis, Ore.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
