Speichinger, Robert J. 1923 - 1992

Robert J. Speichinger, 69, Sioux City, died Sunday, June 28,1992, at his residence after an extended illness. He is a brother of Marge Zink of Le Mars.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Washington Heights Chapel with his three sons officiating, Steve and Jeff Speichinger, and Dann Speichinger, pastor of the chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) with family present from 7 p.m. and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home.

Mr. Speichinger was born April 23,1923, at Yankton, S.D. He graduated from Yankton High School and a national business college. He went to Sioux City in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945 in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theaters. He received the Silver Battle Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart. He married Luella J. Taute Sept. 7, 1948, at Sioux City. For 33 years he worked in sales for the same company, the Russell Miller, Peavev Company and Consumers Feed & Flower Company. In 1981, he moved to Rapid City, S.D., and managed KVSR, the Christian radio station there. His health forced him to retire in 1991; he moved back to Sioux City in 1992. He was a member of the Washington Heights Chapel.

Survivors include his wife; this Three sons Steve of Denver, Dann of Sioux City and Jeff of Zambia, Africa; two daughters, Mrs. John (Jeanne) Skieth of Seattle and Mrs. Gary (Peggy) Powell of Bakersfield, Calif.; three brother, Dick of Sergeant Bluff, Arnold of Malmo, Neb., and Jim Of Ontario, Canada; two sisters, Marge Zink of Le Mars and Jo Ann Young of Reno, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Peter and Laura (Kaiser) Speichinger, and a brother and a sister, Melvin and Lorenie Mae Speichinger.

A memorial will be established in his name for the Washington Heights Chapel.
