Funeral Services Held For Battern Infant

Funeral services for Jennifer Christine Battern, three month olf daughter of the Rev. John and Julie Battern of Pierson, were held Sunday January 6, 1991 at 1:30 p.m. at Meadow Star United Methodist Church in rural Washta. The Rev. Tim Mason and the Rev. Don Callen officiated,. Interment was at 4:00 p.m. at Buena Vista Memorial Park in Storm Lake under the direction of the Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home of Kingsley.

Mrs. Kathy Creasey was organist.

Mrs. Ruby Irwin was pianist. A duet of Mrs. Roxanne Stauch and Mrs. Mary DeVries sang “Spirit Song” and the congregation sang “Be Still My Soul” and: Hymn of Promise.”

Jennifer was born October 21, 1990 at Storm Lake, Iowa. She died suddenly Thursday January 3, 1991 in a Sioux City hospital.

Survivors include her parents and two brothers, Jason and Joshua, all of Pierson; maternal grandparents Derald and Gladys Blois of Honey Creek, Iowa; paternal grandparents Robert and Doris Battern of Eldon, Missouri; a maternal great-grandmother, Minnie Wohlers, of Missouri Valley, Iowa and paternal great-grandparents John and Marge McNerney of Harlan, Iowa.
