Karene H. Maloney, 69, Sioux City, died Wednesday (March;,25, 1992), at a Sioux City hospital after along illness.

Services were Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Edwards officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery under direction of Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Maloney, the former Karene H. Peck, was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Hawarden, la. She attended Hawarden schools and graduated from Hawarden high school. She attended Baptist Bible college and Lutheran Nurses Training and graduated from Tri State College of Commerce. She married Donald Maloney Feb. 13, 1943, in Hawarden. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1946. She was a secretary treasurer of Electric Engineering for five years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and member and officer of the Sioux City Lionness Club.

Survivors include her husband.; a son, Mike of Topeka, Kan.; a daughter, Mary Lacey and her husband, Kevin of Sioux City; two brothers, Andros of Edmond, Okla., and Herbert of Naples, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Lorraine) Winchester of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Mrs. Dee (Adeline) Schultz of Hunter, Kan.; four grandchildren, Amy, Lori and James Maloney and Amber Lacey; and a great-grandson, Jayson Maloney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas.
