Eldon E. Caskey Sr., 81, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services were Friday, Feb. 22 at Meyer Brothers Chapel with the Rev. Walter Clark of Church of Christ officiating.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Brian, Travis and Dannie Caskey, Eddie and Chad Olson, Brandon Young and Clayton Sanford. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Johnny and Chris Welch and Larry Roby. Burial was in Logan Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Sergeant Floyd Post 1973.

Mr. Caskey was born April 28, 1920 in Akron, the son of Charles and Carrie (Button) Caskey. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II with the military police and in the Medical Corps. He was stationed in Germany and France.

He married Helen A. Poor on April 1, 1943 in Kansas City, KS. He was employed as a feed mixer with Kay Dee Feed and Nutro-Flo for 30 years. He was later employed as a night watchman for a few years. His wife died July 20, 1993 in Sioux City.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Eldon and Cathy, and Danny and Terri, all of South Sioux City, and Larry and Gloria of Sioux City; five daughters and their husbands, Barbara and Jim Sanford, Debbie and Dave Rosemeyer, and Tanya and Mike Klink, all of Sioux City, Kay and Paul Welch of Eugene, OR, and Sue and Ron Roby of Veneta, OR; a sister and her husband, Bernice and Jim Hughes of Sioux City; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers, four sisters and a granddaughter.
