SALIX, Iowa -- M. Jeanne Yanak, 74, of Salix passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, with Donald J. Slaven officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a Christian wake service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service on Onawa, Iowa.

Jeanne was born May 2, 1928, in Salix, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Butler) Schopp. She was a life long resident of Salix and graduated from Salix High School in 1947.

She married Joseph Yanak Jr. on Dec. 28, 1953, in Salix.

She was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tabernacle Society, Salix Neighborhood Circle, American Legion Auxiliary and served on the Salix School Reunion committee.

Survivors include her husband; a son and his wife, James "Tony" and Janet of Salix; a daughter, Sue Yanak of Kansas City, Mo.; two granddaughters, Amanda and Bethany Yanak; a brother-in-law, Mack Hittle of Prescott, Ariz.; a sister-in-law, Pat Schopp of Miller, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, Ed and Bob Schopp; and a sister, Mary Ann Hittle.
