Margaret V. Ericson, 86, lifelong resident of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Sunrise Retirement Community following a lengthy illness.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Augustana Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. The body was cremated, burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mrs. Ericson was born Jan. 12, 1917, in Sioux City, to Gustav and Anna (Lif) Lyren. She attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1935.

She married Bertil "Bert" Ericson on Dec. 8, 1945, in Sioux City. She was employed with the Sioux City School District and was a secretary at Longfellow and Clark Schools, retiring in 1976.

She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir for 40 years.

Survivors include her husband, Bert; a daughter and her husband, Lorraine and Patrick Myers of Ralston, Neb.; a sister, Adeline Danielson of Sioux City; a daughter-in-law, Pam Ericson of Sioux City; four grandchildren, Matt Myers and his wife, Jen, Kate and her husband, Oliver Banta, Greta and her husband, Andy Kittelsen and Veronica Newquist; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Paul and Jon Ericson; five sisters and a brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to Augustana Lutheran Church.
