Charlotte M. Happy, 84, of DuBois, Wyo., formerly of Sioux City and Viborg, S.D., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at her daughter's residence in DuBois.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Nathan Houfek officiating. Burial will be in Bethania Cemetery, Viborg. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Larkin Northside Funeral Home in Sioux City.

Charlotte was born Oct. 28, 1918, in Viborg, the daughter of Erick and Lilly (Jorgensen) Erickson. She was raised in Viborg and graduated from Viborg High School.

She married John Happy on March 30, 1946, in Centerville, S.D. The couple lived in Detroit, Mich., before moving to Sioux City. John died on Sept. 21, 1978, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Charlotte worked for the Girl Scouts of America and for Fantle's Clothing in Sioux City. In 1996 she moved to DuBois to be closer to her daughter.

She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sioux City. She was very active in many volunteer organizations such as Meals on Wheels and the Sunshine League. She also enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Michael Horn of DuBois; four grandchildren, Jason Horn of Mitchell, Neb., Cole Horn of Casper, Wyo., Abby Horn of Riverton, Wyo., and Ellile Horn of DuBois; and a great-grandchild, Shelby Horn.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Happy.

A memorial has been established in her name for Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1924 Jones Street, Sioux City, Iowa.
