Mary K. Jacobsma, 64, of Sioux City died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morningside Reformed Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Jeff Moes officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Hospers Cemetery, Hospers, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mary K. Jacobsma was born June 8, 1938, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Valora (Arens) Determann. She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1956. In 1967, she moved to the Sioux City area.

She was united in marriage to Arvin Jacobsma on March 19, 1971, at Christian Reformed Church in Hospers. She worked as a bookkeeper for the majority of her life, working for Jacobsma Transporting Co. for many years. She retired in 1993, so she could provide care for her husband and take him to Brian Injury Association of Iowa.

She was a member of Morningside Reformed Church, where she served as a pastoral care elder and a soup kitchen volunteer. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed cross stitching, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, Arvin of Sioux City; her stepmother, Kathleen Determann of Sioux City; four sisters, Paula Crowell and her husband, Ralph of Stanfield, Ore., Debbie Haglund of Sisters, Ore., Donna Rainboth McIver and her husband, Jim of Cove, Ore., and Jeanne Burdick and her husband, George of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Larry Determann and his wife, Joyce of Wichita, Kan.; and many loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, George Rainboth.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Determann, Reid Jacobsma, Ron Hartman, Garald Zomermaand, Daryl Jacobsma and Craig Jacobsma. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Dixson, Harlyn Jacobsma, Don Jacobsma and John Golden.

Memorials in her name may be made to Brian Association of Iowa, Breast Cancer Research or Morningside Reformed Church.
