HORNICK, Iowa -- Bertha Olson, 91, of Hornick died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at Maple Height Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, with the Rev. Scott Fiege of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Mapleton officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Olson was born May 29, 1911, in Delmont, S.D., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fauth. She married Milo E. Olson on Nov. 10, 1928, in Elk Point, S.D. He died March 12, 1997, in Battle Creek, Iowa.

The couple farmed near Hornick for more than 50 years. She had been a resident of Maple Heights since 1996.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and selling her produce.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Norman Christensen of Mapleton, and Shirley and Larry Frederiksen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jane Scheer; a brother and two sisters.
