MOVILLE, Iowa -- Fern A. (Wycoff) Eves, 97, of Moville, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Merrill, Iowa, with the Rev. Charles Tefft officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Fern Arvilla Manz was born Oct. 7, 1905, on a farm west of Merrill, the daughter of George E. and Edith A. (Hauser) Manz. She graduated from high school in Sioux City (Castle on the Hill) and attended Morningside College in Sioux City. She later attended Teacher's Summer School to receive her teaching certificate.

Fern and Oscar Wycoff were married in Nebraska in 1924. They were blessed with four children. She taught school in the Hinton, Iowa, area for many years. In 1945, she married Charles N. Eves in Bruce, S.D. They retired to Florida for eight years prior to moving to Le Mars in 1976. Mr. Eves passed away in 1988. For the past 10 years, she had resided with her daughter, Dolores, in rural Sioux City and her son, Marvin, in Moville.

She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Merrill and had been active with the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed fishing.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Dolores Hageman of South Sioux City; three sons and their wives, Marvin and Mildred Wycoff of Moville, Ramon and Marilyn Wycoff of Manchester, Iowa, and Maurice and Darlene Wycoff of Overland Park, Kan.; her grandchildren, Teri, Bruce, Barry and Randy Hageman, Kay Remar, John, Dan, Kevin, Mike and Steve Wycoff, Geri Crawford, Barb Schnieders, Lori Wagner and Vicki Barzilla; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Oscar and Charles; a sister, Eva Peters; and a son-in-law, Everett Hageman.
