First Italian Mass
~
Sioux City, Jan. 3 - The first Italian Catholic service held in this city was held at St. Jean Baptiste Church New Year’s morning. Rev. M. C. Daly of Marcus, Ia., preached in Italian. From now on Italian services will held held each Sunday morning. While the audience was not large, it was cosmopolitan. Italians from Genoa and Rome were present but neither could understand the language of the other nor could those who came from other sunny portions of Italy interpret the language spoken by either of these. Rev. Father Daly discovered that Roman was best known.
