John C and Hannah (Kleine) Todd

John C Todd was born in Burg Farmarn, Germany on January 1, 1866. His parents were Hans Heinreich Todt and Margaret Heldt Todt. He was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was one of twelve children.
At the age of fifteen, in 1881, John came to America to join some of his older brothers, locating at Avoca, Iowa. As the Todt family had come to America, their name was changed. Because of the pronunciation, it took on new spellings such as Todt, Toedt, Tod and Todd.
After spending time at Avoca, John came to Kingsley and then to Pierson, where he worked on various farms as a farm laborer.

Hannah M Kleine was born in Schonengen, Germany, on November 6, 1869. Her parents were William and Minnie Kleine. Hannah was one of a family of seven children who were left orphans in early life. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a young girl.
In 1885 she came to Wisconsin to make her home with her uncle, August Warnicke. In 1886 they moved to a farm near Pierson. It was there that she met John, to whom she was married to on December 6, 1887, at Kingsley.
They began their life together on a farm near Pierson where they lived for six years, after which they purchased the farm north of Correctionville which remained their home until their death.
They celebrated their fiftieth weeding anniversary on December 6, 1936, and were privileged to have all members of their family present.
After a brief illness, Hannah passed away, April 11, 1946. John passed away on May 1, 1950. They are interred in the Correctionville Cemetery.
John and Hannah were blessed with nine children. They were: Henry, Sophie, Minnie, George, Otto, Elsie, August, Lura and Helen.
Henry, born June 24, 1888, died November 19, 1956, married Cassie Adamson. Their children were: Fred, Lloyd, Henry, John, Loren, Leonard, Wilbur, Hannah Sands, Florence Evans, Ruby King, Pearl Riordan, and Wilma who died as a baby.
Sophie, born August 9, 1889, died May 29, 1960, married Emil Heinse. Their children were: Bert, Alma Banta, and Edna Kloster.
Minnie, born October 1, 1891, died July 18, 1947, married Henry Gebers. Their children were Elsie and Alice Cope.
George, born February 26, 1893, died January 11, 1973, married Mary Meister. Their children were: Albert, Louie, Glen, Marie Jepsen, Irene Kohn, Betty Paulsen, Mary Lou Carstensen.
Otto, born April 11, 1898, died April 22, 1977, married Lilli Meister. Their children were: Ralph, Donald, Darrell, Clarence, Frank, Kenneth, Eugene, Gale, Dale, Eva Dittmer, Gladys, Rose Godberson, and Agnes Boock.
Elsie, born January 30, 1900, died February 21, 1978, married Elmer Brune. Their children were: Merle, Fern and Elmer, Jr.

August Todd was born August 29, 1902. He still lives on the home farm.

Lorine ‘Lura’ was born September 18, 1907. She married Everett Schuett. Their children were: Gary, Darlene Fransowisk and Lucille Nydene.

Helen was born April 8, 1911, and passed away January 14, 1973. She had remained t the home farm until her death.
