Leo LaRoy Stansbury was born April 8, 1913, in Fayette County, Iowa. He was the seventh of eight children of farmers, George Enos and Lucinda (Howard) Stansbury. The Stansbury family moved to Sioux City when Leo was ten years of age. After living in Sioux City only one year they moved to Granton, Wisconsin, to farm for one year and then to Neilsville, Wisconsin, for two years. They returned to Sioux City in 1925 where Leo has lived since. He married Katherine Elaine Flint, June 12, 1937, at Elk Point, South Dakota. They have three sons who are Gary Leo, Wayne LaRoy and Milo Ray.

Leo’s main occupation was that of truck driving until he started working for Tolerton Warfield Company as an order filler and relief city truck drive. He became a fork lift operator when they moved to their new warehouse at Highway 75 North in Sioux City. This company was to change ownership two more times during Leo’s twenty-three years in the wholesale grocery business. HE retired at the age of sixty years old and occupation his time reading, walking, gardening, and doing yard work. He enjoys good health and throughout his working years had missed only two days of work.

Katherine Elaine was born October 3, 1920, in Sioux City, Iowa, and is a lifetime resident. She is the first daughter of Hans martin and Amanda Katherine (Hansen) Flint and has been known as Elaine since her childhood. Elaine has one sister, Shirley Frances who is married to Robert Dufraine Sells. They live in Seattle, Washington. Elaine was employed by Sears Roebuck Company for thirteen years. She quit her employment after Leo had been retired a year as both wanted to be free to travel when they wished. She also wanted to spend more time pursuing her hobbies of golf, crafts, genealogy and needlework.

All three sons graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. Gary, born December 31, 1939, attended Morningside College and received his final year of training as a Medical Technologist at a veteran’s hospital in Houston, Texas. After his training period, he was employed at the University of Texas M D Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institution at Houston, Texas. His next move was to Denver, Colorado, where he continued his vocation at St Joseph’s Hospital before entering the Administrative field. He is now their Assistant Laboratory Director.
1( Gary is married to Ann (Finchom) and is the father of an adopted son, Todd LaRoy from a previous marriage and has two-step-daughters who are Sarah and Tracy Finchom. They reside in Littleton, Colorado.
2( Wayne, born July 12, 1942, graduated from the University of South Dakota as a Business Major. After his graduation, he was an accountant for International Harvester in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, for a short time before moving to Omaha, Nebraska. He continued his vocation as an accountant first with Haskin Sells Company and then Kirkham Michael Architectural and Engineering firm. In 1968 he and his family then moved to Denver, Colorado, where he was a stockbroker for E F Hutton until the stocks went into a deep depression. At this time he found employment with Heinsohn Print Company. He started as their Controller and Business Manager before getting the position as Vice President. While there he invested in the Budget Tape and Record Stores and now owns and operates one of the stores in North Glenn, Colorado. He was married and divorced from Patricia Hofstad. They were the parents of three children. The eldest son, Michael Wayne, is living with Wayne in Pinecliffe, Colorado. Their daughter, Tricia Lee, resides with her mother in Sioux City.
3( Milo Ray was born March 23, 1944, attended the University of South Dakota for one year prior to serving two years of active duty with the United States Navy during the Viet Nam conflict. After his discharge, he returned to Sioux City and married Carole Lynn Wagner. Shortly after their marriage, he enrolled at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, and majored in Industrial Arts. After his graduation they returned to Sioux City where he taught Industrial Arts at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. At this time he returned to Wayne State College throughout the summers and attained his Masters Degree in the Industrial Arts. In 1979 he and his family went to Saudi Arabia for three years. Milo was employed by Aramco Company and taught Industrial Arts there for one year. The second year he was a Saudi Arab Training Coordinator and during the third year he served as a Quality Assurance Testing Supervisor. Milo and Carole are the parents of John Thomas, David Alan and Matthew Ray, who was born in Saudi Arabia. Their second born child, Ann Renee, died shortly after birth. Milo and Carole now own and operate a National Video store in Sioux City.
