George Abner Waller
By George WallerThe Wallers of Woodbury County are descendants of Waller who came to Dover Plains, New York in 1600s. George Sydney Waller came to Iowa in 1870 and my father, Edwin Everett Waller, settled in Woodbury County in the early 1900s. He practiced law in Sioux City, earned his Doctorate of Law at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, and retired from the U S Air Force as a colonel with service in the Mexican Border war.
Edwin Everett married Ruth Emma Little from Humboldt, Iowa, and they had three sons, Ephriam Everett, George Abner and William Wade all of Woodbury County. The family is active in the community with membership in the Congregational Church, Elks, Knights of Pythius, Legion VFW, and DAV.
George Abner earned a Master of Science Degree from the University of Nebraska in Education for the Emotionally Disabled and teaches in the Sioux City Community Schools. George is a colonel in the Army Reserve, farms and is a member of civic organizations.
