By Bernice L LundquistClaude E Sarver was born November 5, 1884, in Durand, Illinois. With his parents, he lived in Missouri, around Creighton, Nebraska, and then went back to Illinois. From Illinois, they moved to Wapello County, Eldon, Iowa. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad. There he met Willa Felicia Moore who was born December 2, 1887, in Eldon, daughter of John R and Mary Hobson Moore who resided on a farm near Eldon. Claude and Willa were married February 26, 1907, and there were four children born in Eldon: Willa Ona, born November 24, 1908; Verne Moore, born March 9, 1910; Bernice Ioline, born September 16, 1912; and Stanley Claude, born December 10, 1919, who died March 19, 1920. They moved to Minnesota where Claude farmed at Luverne and a son, William Melvin, was born October 25, 1928.
In the summer of 1929, the family moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where Claude worked as mineral feed salesman until his death, November 28, 1933. After his death, his widow returned to Eldon, Iowa, to take care of elderly parents. Melvin returned with her but the other children remained in Sioux City. Upon death of her parents, Willa went to Tacoma, Washington, with son, Melvin, where she was employed at Northern Pacific Hospitals. There she met and married George Wilkinson. They resided in Tacoma and later returned to Sioux City in the late forties where they resided until death in 1955. Melvin married Barbara Valli in Tacoma where they still reside, having two sons, David and Steven.
Wilma married C Van Ness Stiles, August 22, 1937, residing in Sioux City until 1956. Three sons, John, Robert and James, were born in Sioux City. They moved to Tucson, Arizona, and in 1957 John and Robert were killed in an auto accident north of Tucson. James married Bobby Jean Bently, August 24, 1967, and they have two daughters, Debra and Laura. James is a career Air Force with rank of Major and resides in Burke, Virginia.
Verne married Alice Murphy in Sioux City, June 26, 1931. They have no children. They lived in Sioux City until 1955, later moving to West Yellowstone, Montana, where he makes his home.
Bernice married Edmund I Lundquist, August 31, 1940, in Sioux City, Iowa. They still reside there. Three children: Betty Eileen, born April 1, 1942; Diane Margaret, born June 27, 1945; and Thomas Edmund, born April 20, 1949.
