Arthur was born January 2, 1896, in Sioux City. He married Vida G Stockwell, 1921, in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Art died February 2, 1946, in Sioux City. Burial was at Floyd Cemetery in Sioux City. His occupation, paper hanger/painter. Children from the union of Art and Vida: Arthur Clarence Olson, Jr, November 7, 1922; Audrey Olson, June 7, 1924/ June 12, 1924; Milton Olson, twin, May 15, 1926; Melvin Olson, twin, May 15, 1926; Shirley Anderson, February 7, 1930; Gwendolyn Plantz, March 17, 1934.

Art’s father was Harry Olson/Oleson, Sr, who was born September 18, 1865 at Hadeland of Gran, Norway. He married Agnes Holman. His second marriage was to Magdelena Nelson. He died in Sioux City, October 7, 1953, and buried at Floyd Cemetery in Sioux City. Arthur’s mother was Agnes Holman who was born January 17, 1868 at Kristiansund, Norway, and she died August 19, 1907, in Sioux City. Burial was at Floyd Cemetery, Sioux City.

In 1918 Art was a laborer residing with his father, Harry Olson, Sr, at 2310 Steuben Street. In 1920, (soldier) resided at 2310 Steuben. He was a World War I veteran and stationed in France. 1925, (laborer) Art and Vida resided at 2301 Du Pont Street. 1930, Art (painter) and Vida resided at 1110 West 4th Street, 1935, Arthur and Vida resided at 1503 Rock; 1940, resided at 3501 Douglas.

Arthur Olson, Sr, and Vida Stockwell met at the Apsleaf 3 Corner Café at 22nd Street in South Sioux City. Art was a strong man and loved to hunt pheasants, go swimming at McCook Lake on Streeter Beach with Art, Jr. He had and appendicitis operation and he also had an ulcer and died of complications.

Arthur and his brother, Harry, were raised on a farm by Chris Mattsen and Aunt Marie (Holman) Mattsen of Springfield, South Dakota, after their mother, Agnett (Holman) Olson died August 19, 1907. George and Ollie were raised by Theodore and Caroline Stockholm in Meno, South Dakota. Alma and Helen were raised by their mother’s brother, Goodman Holman in Menno, South Dakota.
