Friedrich Graves Hennings
By Alma Hill Hennings

Friedrich Graves Hennings and his wife, Anna Katherina Ronfeldt came to Woodbury County from Harrison County, Iowa. Friedrich had come to the United States in 1880, at the age of twenty-one years. He was born December 17, 1859, the son of Peter and Anna Catherine Stamp Hennings of Eride, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Friedrich Hennings worked in the New York area until he obtained his naturalization papers, then headed to Colorado. There he met William Ronfeldt and came to Denison, Iowa, with him.

In Denison, he met and married Anna Katherina Ronfeldt, who was born March 29, 1871, in Satjendorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She was the daughter of Christian and Catherine Sophie Johnson Ronfeldt.

Friedrich and Anna had seven children: William Henry, Metta Catharine (Mrs Craft Kirkpatrick), Clara Marie (Mrs Elmer Westlin), Arthur Louis (who married Alma Hill), Frederich Conrad Carl (who married Thelma Rodgers), George Peter (who married Evelyn Walstrom), and Anna Malode (Mrs Ken Outhouse).

The family moved from Harrison County in 1901 and lived in the Hornick, Oto and Climbing Hill areas. They were living on the Reinking farm east of Climbing Hill when Mrs Ronfeldt died; after that, he went to live in a nursing home.
