Leonard Louis ‘Sonnie’ Maron was born 9 November 1916 at Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Leonard H Maron and Hilda Bernhardt. He served with the C.C.C. 1934-1938. He worked at Armour and Co. Packing house in Sioux City as a machinist for 25 years before their closing. In 1963 he moved with his family to Rapids City, South Dakota where he was employed as maintenance man and wood working instructor at the Black Hills Workshop for the Handicapped, and later was self employed as a carpenter, plumber and electrician. He is now retired.

Alta Luella Washburn was born 20 July 1921, near Hornick, Woodbury County, Iowa, the daughter of Jesse Washburn and Elsie McKnight. She was a graduate of Luton High School. From 1948 until 1963 she was an employee of Montgomery Wards Department Store in Sioux City. She transferred to the Rapid City Store after their move to that city, and she still is in their employ.

Sonnie and Alta were married 16 October 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa. They resided in the Morningside area of Sioux City until 1963 when they moved to Rapid City. Their home there was in the path of flood of 1972, which filled their basement with water, and rose to about 18 inches deep in the main floor. They lost many of their possessions at that time. Shortly thereafter they built a new home at Black Hawk, a suburb of Rapid City, where they now reside. Sonnie enjoys wood working and Alta enjoys cooking, sewing, knitting and crochet, as well as gardening.

Sonnie and Alta was parents of three children. Leonard Jessie ‘Butch’, was born 24 May 1942 in Sioux City. He was a graduate of East High School, and served in the Navy after graduation for four years as a Demolition Technician. Returning to Sioux City he was employed by Temptrol Corporation. He was married 12 June 1965 in Sioux City, to Colleen Vogt. He died 30 April 1966 as a result of an automobile accident, while on his way to Rapid City from Sioux City. He is buried at Memorial Park, Sioux City, Iowa.

Kay Lorraine was born 25 September 1943 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was a graduate of East High in Sioux City. She was married 27 June 1964 at Rapid City to Tommy G Ingram, born 24 September 1940, Ida Belle, Oklahoma, he was a career Air Force man, retired 1982. This family lived in Arizona, New Mexico and Germany, and are now building a new home at Black Hawk, South Dakota. They are parents of four children: LeRoy Scott, 1964, Wesley Glenn, 1966-1966, Louis Clinton, 1969, and Lissa Kay, 1971.

Arthur LeRoy was born 13 February 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended schools there until 1963, when the family moved to Rapid City. He graduated there in 1964 and then served in the Navy form 1966 to 1970, aboard the USS Fletcher. Arthur was married 26 April 1969 at Lawndale, California to April Joy Smith, born 6 April 1952, Gardena, California, and resided there. They later bought a home at Simi Valley, California, where they now reside. Arthur worked for several years in automotive supply, and in 1977 became a machinist. In 1978 he earned an Associate of Arts Degree with a Psychology Major. They are parents of two children, Angela Lorraine, 1969, and Amber Leianne, 1972.
