Longval Family

Edmond Longval was born February 22, 1860, in St Camille, Canada. He married Lumina Dion. They had three children: Evelyn, Albertine and Ulric. The family came to Sloan, Iowa, in 1896 and were engaged in farming. Edmond died March 1948 and was buried in St Joseph’s Cemetery, Salix, Iowa.

Ulric Longval was born in Canada on June 29, 1886, and came to Sloan in May 1899, where he farmed. He married Anna Rose Mulvihill in Salix at St Joseph’s Catholic Church on January 12, 1911. Three sons were born to them: Harry, Maurice, and Lawrence who died in infancy. Ulric died November 2, 1967.

Harry Longval married Irene Carrington and they had two children: Stephen and Marsha.

Maurice Longval married Madeline Clark and they had three children: Joe, Linda and Cinda.

Harry and Maurice ran Longval Hardware Store in Sloan for thirty years, selling their business, March 18, 1970. The Sloan Post Office occupies the building now.

Harry passed away September 10, 1983, and Maurice on October 19, 1972.
