History of Woodbury County, Iowa 1984

Lillian Irene Krueger
By Muriel C Meyer

Lillian Irene Krueger was born June 20, 1904, at Oto, Iowa. Her parents were Frank and Lelia (Martin) Krueger. She attended school in Oto, graduating from Oho High School in 1921.

After graduation from High School, she worked with her father in his grocery store. Then moved to Rockwell City for a time and then moved to Cherokee. There she lived with her sister, Macil, and worked in a department store.

Lillian lived in Cherokee for nearly twenty-five years. While there, she married Stanley Fritz on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1929. He was a Chicago paint salesman. They made their home in Cherokee. They had no children.

Lillian came to Sioux City in 1945. It was ten years later, in 1955, that she married Oscar Hagensick. He had served in the Transportation Corps, and was just ready to go overseas in World War I, when the war ended. He died June 8, 1972; burial was in Memorial Park cemetery.

Lillian worked at Montgomery Wards, as a hostess at Joe Gantz Steak House, and as a cashier and bookkeeper as the Sunset Café (where Thrifty Drug is now).

She still lives in Sioux City in her own home.
