Henry William Koster, son of Henry Koster and Matilda Butt Koster, was born September 7, 1873, in Nordleda, Germany. He died August 15, 1966, at Anthon, Iowa. He came to the United States in 1889, living in New York for two years before coming to Woodbury County. He married Katherina Jacobsen at Midway, Iowa, in 1897. He farmed in Woodbury County until 1942, when he retired to Anthon, Iowa. He had five daughters and three sons, twenty grandchildren, and thirty-nine great-grandchildren. He played the violin.

Katherina Johanna (Jacobsen) Koster was born May 3, 1880, at Tehsholm, Germany. She came to the United States and Jones County, Iowa, with her parents in 1890. Her family moved to Woodbury County, Iowa, in 1896, and she married H W Koster there November 27, 1897. She died in March of 1954. Her sisters were: Christina Steffen, White Lake, South Dakota; and Johanna Rehse, Arthur, Iowa. Her brother, Pete Jacobsen, lived at Schleswig, Iowa.

H W and Katherina Koster had the following children:
(1)William Dietrich, 1902-1979, who had no children.
(2)Augusta Elise, 1900-1976, who married Charles Dethlesen. Their children were: Louise Warren, Pasadena, Texas; Alice Richardson, Sperry, Iowa; Bernice Van Lanningham, Houston, Texas.
(3)Edwin Johannes, 1905-1965, who had no children.
(4)Henry Christian, 1906- ), who married Beulah Parker. Their children were: Henry, Jr, Louise, Shirley and Fred.
(5)Elise, 1908-?, married Hans Suhr. Their children were: Lester, Arlo, and Verdean.
(6)Alma, 1912-1972, who married Hans Nanraak. Their children were: Kenneth, Norma Jean, Mary Ann, and Janice.
(7)Clara,1914-?, who married Joe Gatto (Gotto?). They had no children.
(8) Eldora
(9)Walter Emil, 1919-?, who married Margaret Hartman. They had one son, James, 1952-1975.
