Armin B Johnson was born March 23, 1920 at Lawton, Iowa. He was the third son of Lloyd and Elsie Johnson. He attended high school at Lawton and joined the Air Force, along with his best friend and neighbor Martin Donnell, on July 12, 1940. He was stationed at Randolph Field, San Antonio, Texas.

He traveled on ice and snow on a three-day pass to come home and marry Carol Padel on December 25, 1941. Carol was the youngest daughter of Reed and Maude Padel, born to them on May 27, 1921. They were married at Ponca, Nebraska, with Robert and Elaine Hinriches as their witnesses.

Armin remained in the service of his country until October 25, 1945.

Armin and Carol were members of the Lawton Presbyterian church. Both belong to the Moose Lodge of Sioux City, Iowa; Armin is a member of the Masonic Lodge of Moville, Iowa; and the American Legion of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.

Carol taught in rural schools and the Moville Elementary school of Moville, Iowa, for several years. She then retired from teaching to raise the family. She later worked as General Office secretary after the family was older.

Five children were born to this union: Terrance L Johnson, Donald Allen, Constance Lynn, Geraldine, and Reed I Johnson.

Armin worked at many jobs. During the post-war years, he and his brother, Leonard, operated an electric shop in Moville, Iowa. He did road construction work, farming, over the road long distance trucking, and was an automobile mechanic, a distributor for automobile products and a security guard at the Sioux City Airport and then a meat packing company.

As a hobby he writes some poetry.

At the time of this writing they are residing on the Sioux City Airport.
