Sarah Jane Cady, daughter of Alpheus and Henriette Snyder Cady, was born August 3, 1877, in Pennsylvania. She came to Woodbury County, Iowa, with her parents in 1880 and grew up here. She married George M Harper, July 25, 1895, at Sloan. George was born January 20, 1872. They farmed in Woodbury County for years and a few years in Nebraska. They had the following children: Ruth, Robert, Rena, Hattie, Nellie, Amanda, Eddie and Ina.

Ruth Harper was born January 13, 1898, at Sloan and grew up there. She married harlan Widgery on August 3, 1920. They lived around Sioux City. Their children were: Ida Inez, Caroline Ruth, Janes/James Harlan, Elizabeth Jane, Donna Belle, and Louella Leon Widgery. Parents are deceased.

Robert Harper was born August 13, 1902, at Sloan and grew up there. He married Vinnie Elizabeth Larivere, August 11, 1928. They lived around Sioux City. They had a daughter, Blanche Elizabeth, born September 3, 1930. Robert has passed away. Vinnie married again and lives in Sioux City.

Rena Harper was born September 25, 1903, at Sloan and grew up there. She married Victor Charles Lundgren on June 25, 1924, and lived in the Sioux City area. Victor passed away; Rena lives in Sioux City. Their children are: Eugene Harold Lundgren, born April 4, 1925, in Sioux City, married Phyllis Ann Wright on December 25, 1945; George Edward, born December 14, 1927, in Sioux City, married Pearl Longe; Lester Earl, born December 12, 1928, in Sioux City, married Viola Jones on May 18, 1952; Arlayne Frances, born December 2, 1931, in Sioux City, married William Benson on October 13, 1951; Lyle Arthur, born December 2, 1931, in Sioux City, married Marlene Ossenfort on September 13, 1955; Carl Lee, born October 11, 1933, in Sioux City, married Myrna Roberts, Octobe 27, 1950; Jeannette Opal, born September 10, 1936, in Sioux City, married Denis Earl Amble, December 13, 1954; Marian Kay, born February 12, 1938; Alice Faye, born June 6, 1939, in Sioux City, married Kenneth Pederson, April 24, 1957; Lois Jean, born December 23, 1940, in Sioux City, passed away June 1943; Charles Elmer, born July 30, 1943, in Sioux City, married Carol Ann Grover, December 15, 1962; and Carol Rena Lundgren, born May 3, 1946, In Sioux City.

Hattie May Harper, daughter of Sarah and George Harper, was born Decembe 18, 1904, at Sloan, and grew up there. She married Calvin Nelson, August 27, 1923, and lived in the Sioux City area. Their children are: Calvin Nelson, Jr, born April 23, 1924, in Sioux City, married Viola May Crawford, June 27, 1944; Lorraine Leona, born Augsust 29, 1925, in Sioux City, married Eugene James O’Brien, March 2, 1944; Lucille Pearl, born March 12, 1929, in Sioux City, married Lawrence William Legg, September 19, 1945; Leonard Marion, born June 14, 1939, in Sioux City, married Mary Louise Mckino, October 25, 1959; Frederick Ellis, born March 1, 1934, in Sioux City, married Patricia Lanelle Olliphant, August 4, 1956; John LeRoy, born April 20, 1932, in Sioux City, married Goldie Mae Grant, April 14, 1953; David Ronald, born May 23, 1941, in Sioux City, married Linda Arlene Demster, March 29, 1963; Sarah Jane ‘Sally’, born July 2, 1946, in Sioux City. All of Hattie’s children grew up in the Sioux City area.

Nellie Leona Harper was born May 23, 1906, in Sioux City and grew up in Sloan. She married Theodore John Richter, April 3, 1923. They had the following children: Joseph Lawrence Richater, born April 20, 1924, in Sioux City, married Twila LaMay Plumer, April 16, 1941; John Edward Richter, born June 10, 1926, in Sioux City, married Margaret Irene Williams, November 29, 1951; Robert Frank Richter, born April 7, 1932, in Sioux City, married Delores Mae Nelson, November 8, 1949; Cecelia Anna Richter, born May 29, 1938, in Sioux City, married Walter Elmer Hood, June 16, 1956; Theodore Augsut Richter, born August 28, 1943, in Sioux City, married Novia Charlene Savitz, June 15, 1959. Nellie and Theodore moved to Hawarden, Iowa, fifteen years ago. Theodore died November 27, 1983. Nellie died November 6, 1983.

Amanda Frances Harper was born July 10, 1907, at Sloan and grew up there. She married Marvin Allen Henshaw, September 11, 1924. They lived in Sioux City, married Hazel Irene Watts, July 16, 1945; James Allen Henshaw, born March 21, 1927, in Sioux City, married Marie Ann Zingraf, December 28, 1946; Edward Harold Henshaw, born November 18, 1928, in Sioux City, married Donna Ray Knight, December 2, 1950; Mary Jane Henshaw, born August 3, 1930, in Sioux City, in Sioux City. Amanda and Marvin now lives in Spokane, Washington.

Eddie Harper was born June 23, 1910, in Sloan, grew up there, and married Delores VanCleave, April 3, 1931. They lived in Sioux City for a while, now live in Washington. They had two children: Sarah Yvonne Harper, born December 17, 1934, married Dwayne Buerke, October 1, 1955; and Richard Roland Harper, born February 15, 1944, married Karen Weberling, July 6, 1960.

Ina Harper was born June 2, 1912, at Sloan, and grew up there and in the Sioux City area. She married Walter Guston Eppling, July 28, 1930, and farmed near Kingsley, Iowa, for several years, then moved to Spokane, Washington. They had the following children: Eleanor Elaine Eppling, born February 12, 1931, at Kingsley and passed away February 13, 1931; Everett Earl Eppling, born May 13, 1934, at Kingsley, married Carol Joyce Clark, September 4, 1954; Edith Estella Eppling, born September 27, 1937, at Kingsley and passed away the same day; Emmett Eugene Eppling, born November 28, 1938, at Kingsley and passed away the same day. Ina and Walter are both deceased; she passed away August 12, 1983.
