William Frangenberg was born August 22, 1870 at Leonore, Illinois in LaSalle County to Wilhelm Bernard Frangenberg and Francisca Maria Eschbach. Wilhelm was born June 24, 1831 in Lindlar Colon, Prussia and died at Richland, Illinois on November 25, 1895. Francisca was born to Peter and Ida Eschback in 1845 in Prussia and died July 31, 1917 at Richland, Illinois. Beside William, other children born to Wilhelm and Francisca were: Mary, Anna Ida, John Lawrence and Frances. They farmed 400 acres of land in Illinois. Wilhelm also served in the Civil War, Company F 23rd Illinois Infantry.

William Frangenberg married Katherine Tutschen on February 5, 1895, at Leonore, Illinois. She was born on July 7, 1875 in Missouri to Nicholas Tutschen and Katherine Heinen. Nicholas was born in 1830 at Stroth Eifel, Germany and died January 8, 1894 at Leonore, Illinois. He married Katherine Heinen in Germany in 1861 and she died April 1, 1921, at Leonore. They came to the United States in 1873. Nicholas and Katherine were the paents of ten children; besides Katherine, the children were: Anna, Mary, Susan, Thomas and Miriam Barbara. The names of the other children are not known.

William and Katherine Frangenberg first farmed at Leonore, Illinois and then came to the Anthon, Iowa area in Woodbury County between 1912 and 1915. In 1921 they were farming west of Merrill, Iowa in Plymouth County. Later they farmed near Marcus, Iowa and then moved to Sioux City. They were the parents of fourteen children: William, Fred, Henry, Susan, Frances, Elnora, Anne, Agnes, Otto, Edmund, Anthony, Bernadine, Catherine and George Robert.

1-William was born November 2, 1895 at Leonore, Illinois and died at Knoxville, Tennessee on February 6, 1959.

2-Fred was born Janaury 7, 1897 at Leonore, Illinois and died February 6, 1959. He married Cecelia Knittel in 1924 and their children are: William, Mary, Dorothy, Thomas, Rosanna, Agnes, Robert and Helen.

3-Henry was born October 6, 1898 at Leonore, Illinois and died February 15, 1834 at LeMars, Iowa. He is buried at Anthon, Iowa.

4-Susan was born November 22, 1900. She joined the Franciscan Order and served as Sr. Mary Sophia. She died October 16, 1954 at Joliet, Illinois.

5-Frances was born December 2, 1902 at Leonore, Illinois and died at Onawa, Iowa, on February 13, 1979 and is buried at Salix. She married Roy Mook and on October 10, 1921 at Sioux City, Iowa and their children is: Lloyd, Evelyn, Harold, Betty, Dewayne, James, Patty and Sheryl.

6-Elnora was born June 7, 1905 and married 1st Michael Harms. Their children are: Shirley, John, Edmond and Jerry. She married 2nd Ezra Mann. She now resides in California.

7-Anne was born January 11, 1907 at Leonore, Illinois. She married Fred Witte on July 25, 1942 in Dakota County, Nebraska. She now resides in at Cherokee, Iowa. She has two children: Evonne and George Robert.

8-Agnes was born June 21, 1908 at Leonore, Illinois. She married George Hoefling on November 26, 1925 at Ellendale near Merrill, Iowa. She died November 1, 1981 at Cherokee, Iowa. Their children are: Lorraine, Bob, Jim, Polly, Sherry and Linda.

9-Otto was born March 19, 1910 at Leonore, Illinois. He married Pearl Heines at Marcus, Iowa on June 6, 1938. Their children are Constance LaRae, Edmund Dean and Mary Elizabeth.

10-Edmund was born March 5, 1912 at Leonore, Illinois and was killed when he was struck by lightning while he was cutting weeds on the farm near Marcus, Iowa on June 13, 1932. He is buried at Anthon, Iowa.

11-Anthony was born December 11, 1913. He werved in World War II. His occupation was farming. He and his wife now reside at Primghar, Iowa.

12-Bernadine was born March 29, 1915 at Anthon, Iowa. She married Gordon Clark June 25, 1940 and they had one son Ronald. She died in November, 1958.

13-Catherine was born October 12, 1916 and died December 18, 1916. She is buried at Anthon, Iowa.

14-George Robert was born May 29, 1919 and died at the age of 2 years in Liberty Township, Plymouth County, Iowa. He is buried in Anthon, Iowa.
