Jimmy Alan Morey is the first son of Edwin and Willys (Hopkins) Morey. He was born March 2, 1940, near Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. His family moved a lot when he was a child. In 1955 they moved to 1308 Floyd Boulevard (Wall Street)

Jim attended Woodrow Wilson Jr High and graduated from Central High in 1959. He then enlisted in the Iowa National Guard and served for eight years.

On June 25, 1960, Jim married Martha Desy. Their daughter, Sandra Dee Ann, was born on August 11, 1961. A son, Jimmy Alan, Jr, was born September 25, 1963. Jim and Martha were divorced in 1970.

Jim worked part-time for the City of Sioux City in the Parks Department. Later he worked full-time in the Water Department. For a number of years, he drove a mail truck from Sioux City to Vermillion, South Dakota, and back twice a day. At the present time, Jim works for the City of Sioux City in the Street Department.

Jim was married October 1975 to Marianne (Welby) Reed. Marianne’s parents are Mark and Catherine (Stanage) Welby. She was born May 30, 1929, in Yankton, South Dakota. Marianne was the first baby born in he new part of the Sacred Heart Hospital. She has five children from a previous marriage. The children are: Steven, Mary, Margaret, David, and Michaeleen. Marianne was working as Postmaster of North Sioux City, South Dakota, when she met Jim. She is now employed at Erwin Weller Company.

Jim and Marianne went to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1976, to visit Marianne’s daughter, Margaret. They enjoyed Alaska very much and would love to go back some day. In 1980 they took a trip to visit Margaret, who had recently moved to Boise, Idaho.

They enjoy their vegetable and flower gardens and love cats. Jim also enjoys playing guitar and singing to country-western songs.
