Harold Donald Greene was born November 29, 1912, in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Ira Dale and Susie (Anderson) Green. Ira moved the family to Sioux City in 1920 at which time he added the ‘e’ to Greene and started using Harold as his first name as he was not particularly fond of the name Ira. He owned and operated Greene’s Auto Service on the west side of Sioux City.

Harold Donald married Anna Marie Schoenfelder, November 29, 1933. Daughter of Joseph J and Bertha (Ziere) Schoenfeldedr of Dimock, South Dakota. Anna was born May 30, 1907, in Dimock, South Dakota. She moved to Sioux City at the age of twenty-two, and worked there as a housekeeper for Mr and Mrs John Mulhall.

Harold was employed by the Sioux City Police Department form 1941 to 1951, at which time he went to work for twenty years for the Lewis System (Wells Fargo). He retired to his farm in Plymouth County in 1970.

Harold and Anna had five sons, Victor, Stephen, Harold, Jr, Joseph and Robert. Victor J of Sioux City was born February 1928. He married Charlotte L Larson, born December 1931, daughter of Alfred W and Myrtle F (Ariens) Larson of Sioux City.

Victor and Charlotte have three children, Jon and Vicki. Charles L, born April 1960, married February 1980, Milanie J Frank. Charles is presently in the Army at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Jon D, born May 1962, is employed at Iowa Beef Processors and living in Sioux City. Vicki J, born July 1967, is a student at West High School.

Victor served in the Army at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, 1951 to 1953. He worked eleven and one-half years with the Milwaukee Railroad in Sioux City until it closed and is presently employed at the Sioux City Foundry.

Stephen S Greene of Sioux City, born August 1934, married Karen K Weicht of Marcus, Iowa, June 1956. Karen was born March 1938, daughter of Merle and Ruth (Carney) Weicht of Marcus. Steve was in the Marines at Camp Pendleton and served in the Korean War. He is now employed at Interstate Restaurant Supply. Karen worked at Zenith until it closed and is now employed for Wheel Chair Transportation Service.

Harold D Greene, Jr, born January 1945, died as an infant, May, 1945, of an enlarged heart, and is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City, Iowa.

Joseph H Greene of Sioux City, was born June 1947, married Linda S Giesler in June 1970. Linda was born in Orange City, Texas, in September 1951, the daughter of Charles and Karal (Sahloh) Giesler now of Sioux City. Her father, Charles, was from Altamont, South Dakota and served with the Navy, twenty-five years during World War II and Korea. Her mother, Karla was from Bremerhaven, Germany, and came to United States on her own and they were married in Milbank, South Dakota.

Joseph ‘Joe’ was in the Army, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, 1968 to 1970. He is now employed at Steffen, Inc. and Linda is presently employed at Marian Health Center. They have two children: Scott J, born July 1971; and Jeremy J, born Novembe 1974. Both are students at Hinton Community School.

Robert J Greene of Hinton, Iowa, was born September 1948. HE married Linda D Johns, daughter of Delbert and Eva-Joy (Thorne) Johns. Linda and Robert graduated form Hinton High Schol. Linda studied art in Ankeny, Iowa, and traveled as a shopper for J C Penney and worked at the Credit Bureau in Sioux City before she married. Robert served two years in the Army and was stationed in Germany; he is now employed at United Parcel Service. They have three children, Jason M, born August 1976, is a student at Hinton Community School. Chad A, born April 1979 is a student at Fairyland Nursery School of Sioux City. Shannon E was born May 1983. All children were born in Sioux City. Bob and Linda live on an acreage west of Hinton.
