Horace and Margaret Hancer

Horace Hancer, born May 12, 1848, and Margaret Hancer, born April 2, 1863, came to the United States from England in 1881. They came to Merrill, Iowa, where Horace was a cattle buyer. They had four children: Hannah, born May 9, 1896; George, born November 7, 1893; Effie, born November 12, 1898; and James, born May 24, 1902.

George and his wife, Ivy, had one child, Helen May. George is deceased. Helen May married Ron Komer and lives in Minneapolis.

Hannah married George Hossack and had two sons, Don and Bill. Don, George and Hannah are deceased. Bill lives in Sioux City.

Effie and her husband, Roy Raabe, had one son, George. Effie lives in California; Roy is deceased.

James Hancer, now deceased, and his wife, Kathryn had three sons, James, William and Gene. James lives in Minneapolis; William and Gene live in Sioux City. Of the three sons, James and his wife, Wilma, have four sons, James, Kevin, Burke and Martin, and one daughter, Shelly. William is not married. Gene and his wife, Devonna have two children, Kellie and Mark. Kellie is married to Tim Hahn and has two children, Dustin and Adrienne. Mark is serving in the Navy.
